What do you get when you soak oats in milk with a dash of honey and chia seeds? A creamy delicious pot of goodness that keeps hunger locked till lunch.Oats are a definite nutritional winner for many reasons: they contain beta-glucagon so prevents spikes in sugar levels in the blood, a tone of fiber to get those bowels moving and contain magnesium and calcium just to name a few.
Because you prepare this the night before, it makes it the perfect breakfast idea if you don’t have time to make anything in the mornings, especially if you are rushing around trying to get ready for work or getting kids ready for school/nursery:)
Taken and adjusted from the lovely Lizzie. Here is what you need to do the night before:
Add a 1 cup of oats (more i needed-depending how big your cup is) to 1 tablespoon of Chia Seeds and Almond Butter and honey to your chosen cup/jar.
Add your 1 cup of milk of choice and stir continuously until ingredients mixed. If you wish to add seeds/dates/fruits, go ahead:)
Stick it into the fridge over night. In the morning add chopped dates and coconut flakes to the top and take out the biggest spoon and indulge.
Filled with goodness, you cannot go wrong with oats. Plus it keeps hunger at bay for the next few hours and prevents you from nibbling on the ”not so good” type snacks.
It is great for kids too and you can add whatever fruits they love to it. make it colourful by adding strawberries/pineapples/banana/kiwi fruits.
Totally agree; Overnight oats are really practical and delicious. This sounds really nice. I love chopping up 1 or 2 dates, mixing it in with the oats and leaving to soak overnight. Gives it a really nice sweetness!
Oh totally! haha funny you say that, I have some soaking in the fridge right now! We have an overload of dates right now so using as much as I can
