There is often a gap between what we want in life and what we can have. Let me ask you a question, does your budget doesn’t always match up to your wishes?
That isn’t always the case with me. I was taking a look at my bedroom and thinking what can I do to liven it up a bit, then I looked at my bank balance and thought, how am I going to make this work.
So what can you do to give your place a little spruce up without spending a penny?
Here are a few tips and tricks I have tried which actually work!
(Pics not my own).

1- De clutter your space
An over cluttered room just adds negativity to your space and will make you feel claustrophobic. It’s also gives a very messy outlook to your space. Take time out to get rid of the things you don’t need and only keep the items you will use and that are essentials. Say goodbye to dust pilers. Once completed, you will feel like you’ve had a renovation done. Trust me on this one, a little less clutter can make a world of difference.
2-Musical chairs with your items
Sometimes re-arranging your furniture can make all the difference and will make you feel like you have had an instant upgrade which took you five minutes to do. Move big and bulky furniture pieces like the sofa towards the edge of a room to give you more space and it will make the room feel a little bigger. Try moving your sofa or chair so that it faces the sun in the mornings. A little Vitamin D top up is an added bonus. I just love the warm sunshine, and I am hoping London sees more sunshine in July. Sometimes a small change can put a big smile on your face.
3-DIY jobs
Have you ever tried painting over furniture? Try giving your items a new make over by changing the colour using paint you already have at home. Change the colour of knobs of your cupboards, accessories table tops with handmade items. Look at Red Ted Arts for inspo pieces, some amazing art work here, and kids can get involved too. Make it a family affair. What do you think of my three tips? Easily achievable right?lGive these three tips a go and then take a step back and review your place. I promise you, it will feel like you’ve had a much needed upgrade.
Remember de clutter is an important step, I always feel more positive when I’ve had a spruce up. It’s hard letting go of things, I’m a huge hoarder, but change your mindset, and you can do it. Have a read here all about learning to let go which I previously wrote about.
Let me know how you get on.
